Artysán’s Duroc

The Duroc pig is a breed that is found between the white pig and the Iberian pig, and is the only one that is allowed to be crossbred with the Iberian pig. At Artysán, we have worked hard to achieve a unique lineage that is characterised by the meat’s qualities: smooth texture, firm and compact, with an exquisite colour and appearance.

The meat from Artysán’s Duroc pigs has an attractive intramuscular vein, which makes it juicier, more tender and with a better flavour than other meats.

Nutritional properties

The meat from our Duroc pigs has a unique nutritional profile that makes it better than other meats, as it is rich in vitamins, proteins, minerals and fatty acids.

  • It has high concentrations of B vitamins, which are important for the metabolism and effect the release of energy through food.
  • It contains high amounts of protein that are needed for muscle development, and is composed of a good combination of essential amino acids that are required for cell growth, repair and maintenance.
  • It has significant iron content, which is important in the development and prevention of diseases.
  • Rich in monounsaturated fats and with high amounts of oleic acid, which both help to maintain adequate levels of good cholesterol (HDL), while lowering bad cholesterol (LDL).
